There are far too many reasons to list here why it is not always viable to send a valued book through the mail to be signed, and also, many authors do not want to take the additional responsibility of its return journey either. One time honored tradition employed through the years has been the use of Typescripts and Broadsheets to alleviate this issue. Often a single sheet featuring a text except of an author’s work, usually their most well-known, or sometimes a Broadsheet with few paragraphs yet to be published, that are sent instead in lieu of a volume being signed or along with a request for further info on any upcoming public readings or events so the volume can be signed in person.

I’ve received many back over the years, some of which are tipped in as signatures in the respective first printings until they were signed in person and others which are framed and hung for decorative purposes. I have been making some recent changes and it is now time for many of these unique treasures to find a new home. They also make a great gift and can be a wonderful and much more affordable substitute for the book lover in your life than the first edition of the title itself.
